Thesis
Whenever a major technology transition changes how work happens, the people who figure out new ways of working capture disproportionate value.
When 'how manufacturing happens' changed last century, Japan became a global leader because of the innovation it did in designing production systems with an underlying distinct philosophy - through the work of the likes of Deming and Taiichi Ohno of Toyota.
A new way of doing work also requires a new kind of management philosophy.
Knowledge work is at the same inflection point now with AI. The companies that thrive in the AI-era are those that treat "Organisation as a lever" and innovate on new ways of doing knowledge work.
